The problem facing the majority of superhero novels is that they come across as rather two dimensional when compared to their onscreen counterparts but the Ferdie and The Seven series has certainly made the grade. Book 1 proved a strong debut for Buenafe and Time Flies is an equally intriguing release. Keeping the momentum going whilst plying readers with suspense, action and timely twists it’s indicative of a subgenre that’s ever increasing in popularity and yet it’s a credit to Buenafe that he neatly sidesteps cliché. Marsh Dog, Gabriella, Rafael and Ling are back as Ferdie finds himself facing new challenges but Buenafe isn’t content to rest on his laurels. He’s given us a protagonist with oodles of appeal but room to develop and in straightforward prose he delivers a narrative that is rich in detail and sure to capture the imaginations of all who turn its pages. On this level, it makes for a sublime mix that eschews predictability and delivers a cracking good read.
A superb sequel in a series with huge potential, Time Flies is sure to garner Buenafe a host of new fans and is recommended without reservation.
