Sometimes Heaven Is Overrated!
Challenges of the Gods proves a powerful
start to a captivating new series......
Just as Helen finally begins to let herself believe that she’s reached that elusive effortlessness with Jamie, her former fiancé follows through on his threat and her world is torn apart. Confronted with herself like never before, Helen must, once and for all, decide what it is she expects of herself and desires out of life. This challenge proves almost unattainable as Helen takes most unexpected routes to try to find her happiness.
Following on from Effortless, Inevitable by Marina Raydun continues the story of Helen and Jamie though with notably more momentum than its prequel. Still feeling fresh and original we are never left with the feeling that scenes have been played before as Raydun quickly establishes a tone that is both searching and edgy. Built first and foremost on dialogue and reflection which centres on conversation and monologue, Helen’s character draws from life by exaggerating it and treats readers to many profound observations on relationships. Watching other people making tragic choices is never easy and with Raydun’s powerful opening chapter we’re reminded that the love we make exceptions for can often leave us blinded to a darker and harsher reality. It’s this level of poignancy that Raydun manages to tap into in each of her novels, but perhaps more so here as we get to explore the deeper layers of Helen's personality, wants, regrets and desires. Reminding us that romance often blossoms out of taking a chance and stepping outside of ourselves.
Another notable and powerful release from Marina Raydun , Inevitable proves a heartily enjoyable read from start to finish and is highly recommended
