"A Powerful and fascinating foray into the future of science and its unforeseen consequences"

Korean Butterfly-Jamie-Fiverr

First it was water. Then blood. And finally smoke. Gwen Conway never knew there were so many ways to die. Honestly, it was something she would have been happy not knowing. Maybe, they really are just dreams. Nightmares. But they won’t stop. And dreaming of her death is getting old. Then there’s the sleepwalking. She’d like to pass on that too. Gwen’s pretty sure the dreams have something to do with her new job. Which of course, is definitely not just a ‘job.’ Don’t get her wrong, working for the Archiver of the Time Streams has its perks. Having the power to travel to any past or future time is fantastic. But she’s less than pleased to find herself in the middle of a time travelers’ war. Especially against a crazed half-god who has the power to obliterate the existence of any time or place.  Gwen is starting to wonder whether she should have read her employment contract more carefully!

An imaginative foray into the fantastical, Mirrored Time is the debut novel from author J D Faulkner who brings an original twist to an old trope. Time travel is frequently used and abused in books and more often than not leaves the reader less enlightened than intended, but Faulkner's tale is meticulously observed and ably manages to avoid trite paradoxes with skill and more than a little apt humour to boot. Judiciously borrowing from Greek and Roman legend, Faulkner takes some liberties to create a highly original urban fantasy where time is the plot device that sets her yarn in motion and whilst her plot is certainly intricate it is refreshingly easy to navigate. With a host of intriguing characters and acerbic dialogue that is always on the button, its deliciously dark at times and offers everything a reader could want from an urban fantasy tale.

A genuinely rip roaring romp through the annals of time and space, Mirrored Time will likely win a horde of enthusiastic followers for author J D Faulkner and is certainly recommended.
