Sometimes Heaven Is Overrated!
Challenges of the Gods proves a powerful
start to a captivating new series......
Prominent figures in Belfast are being murdered. The bodies are left naked and posed in grotesquely distorted shapes. No clues are left at the forensically immaculate crime scenes except odd theatrical props and some random numbers and letters concealed at each scene by the killer. How are the victims linked? What is the connection between these killings, the bible, and a famous mediaeval painting of The Last Judgement?
It is always uplifting to review something a little different and with the intriguing title, The Doom Murders, Brian O’Hare delivers just that. A wonderfully graphic murder mystery with real depth, O’Hare writes with a keen eye for detail with his tale evolving at a surprising pace. Eschewing stereotypes that dominate popular crime thrillers, O’Hare leans toward the fallible side of his characters, imbuing them with a real world presence that is by turn witty and darkly introspective. This most evident in his lead, Jim Sheehan, who wrestles with the conflicts of faith as his investigations progress. It’s cleverly connived and highly thought provoking in the vein of all great crime thrillers and it makes for an enthralling read.
A absolute must read for fans of the genre, The Doom Murders will certainly win a host of followers for author Brain O'Hare and is highly recommended.
