The Language Of Love Has Never
Been So Intoxicating
Charles Wilson is a furniture maker and restorer who together with three other tradesmen, have found themselves monopolised by a mutual wealthy client, Frank Knight. Frank Knight is a self-confessed picky bastard who fusses to the nth degree over details. Friction develops when one of the tradesmen spends more on his mobile selling his detecting finds. The atmosphere is only made worse by the disappearance of a large amount of cash, and the subsequent cloud of suspicion.
A rip roaring comedy, The Funny Farm is the debut novel from author Geoff Hancock that will have you in stitches. A feverish read with a bevy of vivid and instantly endearing characters, well drawn and artfully observed as he tells his tall tale with admirable aplomb. It’s delightfully outlandish and Hancock’s timing is impeccable, with a finely tuned ear for dialogue which he judiciously uses to deliver wonderfully observed anecdotes and one liners within an intriguing plot. The pace never stops and the laughs come easy and yet there’s a heart-warming undertone that is quite beguiling. An elusive mix that transcends the page and might easily be captured in other mediums.
