The Language Of Love Has Never
Been So Intoxicating
Aran and the twins, Brian and Fianna, love playing advanced interactive computer games. When the Rubidium Time-Leap flips them back to AD 210, the reality is incredible as they fulfil their task list. Staying alive becomes their priority when Ancient Roman Emperor Severus and his legions heap death and destruction on the Taexali Celts of Roman Scotland. Will they complete the mission unscathed?
A thoroughly absorbing slalom of a novel The Taexali Game proves a bold and imaginative melding of Historical, Fantasy and Science Fiction with Jardine delivering a maelstrom of action and intrigue in equal measure. Immediately enthralling, with a host of well-nuanced characters and cleverly woven plot threads she ably captures the timeless qualities of her Scottish setting without resorting to trite clichés whilst enthralling prose and an acerbic eye for detail reminds us that there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a well-written story. Historical Fiction with a highland lilt currently suffers from a deluge of copycat novels, but readers have rightly come to expect more and that’s what Jardine delivers. There’s no preposterous genre tinkering, she starts with a refreshingly original idea and explores its implications. But whilst it’s high concept it’s also emotionally charged and readers will quickly find themselves fully invested in the trials and tribulations of Aran, Brian and Fianna as they come to face the harsh realities of an ancient world order.
A highly enjoyable page-turner which is sure to be well received by gamers and fans of multi-genre fiction, The Taexali Game is definitely deserving of a place on your bookshelf and is highly recommended.
