Embracing the spirit of fantasy and adventure, Thought Gazer by Raymond Bolton is Book Two in the Ydron Saga with treachery and intrigue setting the scene for what proves to be another rip roaring tale of high adventure. A tale in which Bolton takes obvious delight, he maintains the creative edge and distinctly satisfying thoroughness with which he originally imagined his far flung world. With an exceptional eye for detail and favouring narrative over dialogue his characters are imbued with insightfully nuanced characteristics that are both enthralling and plausible as his well-constructed plot evolves. This brings a welcome degree of complexity to his characters whilst an intriguing moral element notably avoids predictability in an SF Fantasy that plays to the best in this popular genre. There’s certainly much to enjoy here, whilst Bolton’s vivid imagination and continued exploration of telepathy ensures originality as the adventure hurtles towards a poignant and powerful denouement.
A clever and highly entertaining SF fantasy read, Thought Gazer takes The Ydron Saga to another level and is recommended without reservation!
