"A Powerful and fascinating foray into the future of science and its unforeseen consequences"
A chance encounter with a celebrity, an impromptu video, and a shiny new espresso machine. It all added up to a juicy tale for 24-year-old Rachael Allen to share with friends. But when her best friend posts the video online, bizarre threats, home break-ins, and deadly gifts from an obsessed fan follow close behind. Mick Sullivan, the star in her video, offers to help and in the process, Rachael discovers that despite his reputation as a player of Olympian caliber, he’s down-to-earth—and emotionally damaged. He has secrets; some he’s shared only with his pseudo best friend. Others he's shared with no one. But there's one secret he’s hidden from himself, washed away by too many beers. As the threats escalate, and their relationship deepens, Rachael struggles to accept Mick’s past—and his present. And she is forced to confront her own obsessive love to ultimately decide if being with Mick Sullivan is worth the collateral damage.
Romantic thrillers often lack the intensity of the mainstream genre, but this certainly isn’t the case with You'll Be Thinking Of Me. A clever and sometimes disturbing romantic thriller, it marks the arrival of author Densie Webb to a new genre and one to which she seems exceptionally well suited. Judiciously avoiding convention, she’s taken a good look at our obsession with celebrity and turned it on its head to give it a unique twist. Her characters are wonderful, with great chemistry between Rachel and Mick, they both have an air of vulnerability about them which makes them highly endearing, but Webb takes her readers to an altogether darker place as she delves in to mind of Rachel’s Stalker. It’s a chilling foray into the mind of an obsessed fan, an obsession which grows in unpredictable ways as Webb’s plot advances, convincingly demonstrating how easily and quickly obsessive devotion can turn to obsessive hatred. It’s a genuine rollercoaster of a ride and not one to be easily forgotten.
A superb genre debut that guarantees a riveting read, Densie Webb certainly raises high expectations for her next release. A must read summer indulgence, You'll Be Thinking Of Me is recommended without reservation.
